Maybe you have heard that you need to renew your passport EARLY, here's why:

This year marks the 10th anniversary of when passports became mandatory for U.S. citizens traveling between the US and Mexico and the Caribbean. As passports are valid for ten years, the U.S. State Department foresees a
surge in passport applications and renewal requests in 2016,
taking upwards of 16 weeks to process.

In order to avoid unnecessary fees to expedite the process, please renew your passport EARLY!

Passports must be valid for up to six months at time of arrival to your travel destination. Passport and visa information may be obtained by contacting the Travel Advisory Section of the U.S. State Department at (202) 647-5225 or by visiting the State Department website at http://www.state.gov/travel.

If you have a NON US passport, it is advised that you  contact the embassy of your destination and transit country to obtain entrance requirements. Each country’s policy will vary, therefore, please check destinations for the specific travel documents required.

To find a passport office near you simply visit https://iafdb.travel.state.gov/DefaultForm.aspx and enter your zip code.

Some popular locations for people in Rockland, Westchester, Fairfield and Bergen are:
New City, NY, Chappaqua, Katonah, Scarsdale, Darien, Danbury, Ridgewood and Bergen County Clerks Office.

Sunlit Travel recommends that you visit the U.S. Department of States’ website http://travel.state.gov/, which includes important information on foreign travel. Use common sense while vacationing abroad.
