Honeymoon - DIY or Get Some Help?

I am actually a DIY person. My motto has always been, “you can do anything if you know how to read” which has now been modified to, “you can do anything if you know how to use YouTube”. I crochet scarfs and blankets, make my own necklaces and create my kids Halloween costumes (easy ones, let’s not get crazy). So I totally get the appeal of doing it yourself.

But when you are ridiculously busy planning a wedding, dealing with the emotional overload of what it means to be getting married, and still having to deal with everyday responsibilities of cooking, cleaning and laundry… maybe it’s time to call in reinforcements. 

It doesn’t have to be a time vs. money situation. Working with a travel agent on your honeymoon doesn’t necessarily mean it will cost more (in many cases it will save you money). My fees are commensurate with the complexity of the travel itinerary. An all-inclusive honeymoon that doesn’t require planning many additional activities and restaurant reservations won’t cost anything extra. A customized, multi-destination itinerary may require a small fee, but is certainly worth the time and headache saved by having professional advice and planning. 

I think the most important part of planning a honeymoon with a travel agent is the personal contact. Reaching out to someone you know for advice is invaluable and relying on someone with experience is comforting. My clients call me about suggestions for romantic surprises, what type of adaptor to use for their flat irons and names of restaurants that have the perfect sunset view; and I am so happy to help.

Of course you CAN plan your own honeymoon, but why would you want to?
