What better time to talk about new resorts than the beginning of a new year! In 2015, a few of the resorts that were under construction will finally open! In the Bahamas, we can look forward to BAHA MAR's opening. Since the resort is so large, it will be opening in phases; with the Grand Opening planned for late spring. Baha Mar boasts 2,000 rooms in four hotels! The hotels include Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Mondrian, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and The Baha Mar Casino and Hotel. The Melia, an existing hotel in the area, will undergo renovations including changing to an all-inclusive and re-open as Melia at Baha Mar. With the Atlantis just across the Sidney Poitier bridge, it will be very interesting to see how the new mega resort changes the landscape of travel to the Bahamas. The much anticipated SANDALS BARBADOS will reopen on January 28, 2015. After an attempt at opening last year, the owner of Sandals, Butch Stewart, decided to close down and put millions of dollars into renovations before reopening this January. It is touted as the Sandals of tomorrow, today. Sandals is completely dedicated to couples in love. If it is anything like Sandals Grenada (which debuted last December) then I am sure it will exceed expectations! Sandals Barbados will consist of 280 luxury rooms, including beachfront butler suites and new swim-up river suites in a tropical garden. The resort will feature 11 restaurants, 7 of them brand new. Hyatt recently opened it's first all-inclusive in the Caribbean in Montego Bay, Jamaica. HYATT ZIVA ROSEHALL and HYATT ZILARA ROSEHALL provide a luxury option for families and adults alike. The buildings are adjacent to one another but the Ziva caters to families while the Zilara is reserved for adults only. The luxury comes in the form of swim up suites, full service spa, beach butlers and 24 hour in suite dining. On the northern coast of Jamaica in Ochos Rios, MOON PALACE JAMAICA GRANDE is scheduled to open in the beginning of 2015. It is the first Palace Resort located outside of Mexico. Renovations include updating guest rooms, meeting spaces and common areas. This resort will be geared toward a variety of guests ranging from families to couples. There will be a nightclub for adults and a kids club for kids, plus a Flow Rider double wave simulator for teens!
