Amazing resort for sun, fun and RELAXATION! But you must Fly Direct! Unfortunately, when I booked my trip, there were no nonstop flights from NY that fit my schedule. So Grenada was a huge pain to get to, but well worth it! Luckily, the flights have changed significantly since I booked my trip, with multiple carriers now offering nonstop service from NY and Miami. ![]() I flew Caribbean Airlines: the good - a checked bag is free and a hot meal is served with a smile. The bad - flights to Grenada are subject to "spraying of the plane". This means that a flight attendant will take an aerosol can of pesticide and spray the entire length of the plane. If you are unlucky enough to be in the aisle seat, on the side she is holding the can, you will have pesticide falling onto your head and continue to smell it for about 20 minutes… EWW. Once you land at the Grenada airport, Sandals is a 3. minute. ride. Literally, 3 minutes. Since we arrived at 7am, our room wasn't ready, so we were escorted to Le Jardinier where we were seated by a window to enjoy the lush gardens. The French Restaurant was flawless. Although the butler already knew my food allergies, they were attentive to my needs and made sure everything was right. I had a Spanish omelet, which was delicious! We were then given a brief tour of the resort and taken to a changing room to get ready for a day at the pool. Our luggage was taken for storage and our valuables placed in a safe. Our butler (shout out to Leanne!) showed us to a private cabana by the pool, reserved especially for us. She brought a cooler with ice and our favorite cold drinks. After a short time at the pool, we decided to take a walk along the beach. It is a cove style beach with rocks creating a small area for swimming. Throughout our stay, the yellow flag was raised, indicating swimming was dangerous due to high winds and rough water. There were people relaxing in trampolines in the water. We took advantage of a private swing for two on the pier. When we returned back at the pool, we noticed we had several missed calls from our butler! Oh, the butler service does take some getting used to! She (yes, both butlers were women) was trying to contact me to inform me that there has been a change in my room. The guests in the room originally assigned to me decided to extend their stay, so I was given a different room. THANK YOU! The room was… INCREDIBLE. Just WOW. The room category is an Italian Oceanview One Bedroom Skypool Butler Suite with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub - 1SKY. The only better room in the entire resort is the PSKY or Penthouse -- where the view of the water is even more spectacular than the slice of water we could see, IMHO of course! The next best room was the Rondoval, but I will save that for a different blog post! Walk in to a kitchenette to the right; a dining area and living room straight ahead with a flat screen TV. The rooms are BIG. The bedroom, with privacy doors featured a king bed with a large, flat screen TV. The bathroom was phenomenal. Two sinks. Not a double sink… two sinks that each span the length of a counter. The shower has two shower heads, one in the ceiling causing the water to fall like a rain shower. Note: the bathroom has no door. There is a wide entrance with a glass enclosure for the toilet. Glass… as in see-through. It wasn't an issue at all for us, after all, we were celebrating our 20th anniversary. But I could see how it might be an issue if a couple is dating or newlyweds. ![]() My husband and I agreed that the best part of our room was the balcony. A sky pool on the balcony with 2 chaise lounges, a two person couch (the size of a queen sized bed) and a tranquility soaking tub. (I learned something about myself the moment I stepped out of my room, I am a balcony snob. I realized that I have always looked at the balcony to define the room. I certainly was happy to have this huge, corner room and humongous balcony!) I am the farthest thing from a foodie you can imagine. I have many food allergies and I am extremely careful about what I eat. Although Sandals claims to be able to handle special food requests, I found myself being very cautious, since I was brought the wrong food item once or twice (for example: my butler brought a drink with a pineapple wedge on the glass and I am allergic to pineapple). It wasn't a huge issue for me, I simply sent it back and received a new drink but it could be dangerous if you don't stay vigilant. Which brings me to butler service. Butler service definitely takes some getting used to. The first day on property, my husband and I went exploring. When we returned to our chairs at the pool, we had 8 missed calls from our butler! Opps! I am not used to people checking in to see if there is something they can do for me! After the first day, we pre-arranged for seats at the pool, snacks delivered to the room and made several dining reservations as well as a photo shoot reservation; all through the butler. The best use of the butler was when I requested a surprise dinner for 2 on the balcony. While we were out of the room, the butler set up a table and chairs, tiki lights, hearts and votive candles all over the balcony. She served us each course herself. We asked her to take a picture on our camera, which she did, but when she left for the next course, the doorbell rang and it was a photographer she had sent up to take professional pictures of the evening. It was so thoughtful and proactive! (Thanks again Leanne!) Overall, Sandals LaSource Grenada is just about the most relaxing place I have ever been. The quiet, romantic atmosphere will be treasured... until my next visit!
