When talking with clients I always explain that activities are subjective, what is perfect for one family isn't necessarily great for another. All vacations are customized to suit the individuals traveling. But inevitably, the question comes, " What is YOUR favorite thing to do in... (fill in destination of your choice!) My all time favorite activity on Maui is watching the sunrise from the top of Mt. Haleakala. Driving into the Haleakala National Park, you can see unique wildlife, with more endangered species in this park than any other in the National Park Service. Tour companies offer many different options while visiting Mt. Haleakala: 
If you are planning to watch the sunrise be prepared to wake up very early to head to the summit. Tours usually pick up at around 2am! It is necessary to be there early since the peak gets very crowded - and it is sunrise after all. The views of the suns rays peaking out above the clouds are well worth the lack of sleep, and you can return to your resort and relax by the beach in the afternoon.
